With record sales, higher earnings and continued growth across its key businesses, JB Hi-Fi enters FY27 with a strong foundation while navigating an evolving retail landscape.

JB Hi-Fi Limited (ASX: JBH)

On 17 August 2026, announced its full year results, delivering a solid FY26 performance as total sales for the year hit a record of $11.06 billion, reflecting an increment of 4.8% compared to previous year, while EBIT increased by 3.8% to $734.4 million. NPAT also rose by 6% to $489.9 million which supported an increase in basic EPS of 5.9% to 448.1 cents. The Group also increased its total ordinary dividend by 22.5% to 337 cents per share, representing 75% of NPAT. The results highlighted continued earnings growth of the company despite a challenging retail environment and some pressure on margins.

Performance across the Group’s divisions was mixed but broadly positive. JB Hi-Fi’s Australian division delivered 4.4% sales growth to $7.42 billion, with EBIT rising 3.2% to $547.3 million which is supported by computers, mobile phones, fitness, small appliances and IT. The digital platform sales increased by 7% to $1.28 billion. JB Hi-Fi’s New Zealand was the primary growth driver with an increase in sales by 26% and EBIT turning positive at NZ$4.1 million. The Good Guys also performed well, with sales up 2.7% and EBIT increasing by 6% to $184 million, while e&s reported 21.3% sales growth but recorded a $0.4 million EBIT loss due to continuous investment. JB Hi-Fi’s market capitalisation stands around $7.31 billion with an attractive dividend yield of 5.03%.

The Group also maintained a strong financial position while continuing to invest in its operations. Net cash balance reported by the company at year end was $206.5 million, a bit lower than $284.1 million in the previous year because of the higher working capital and increased dividends this year. JBH’s operating performance remained quite strong as the operating cash flow for the year was $701.2 million, while free cash flow stood at $403.4 million. Capex increased by 6.4% to $87.4 million, supporting investment across the store network, online operations and strategic initiatives. The Board has also maintained its focus on shareholder returns, with the final dividend of 127 cents per share scheduled for payment in September.

Looking into FY27, management expects the retail environment to remain uncertain in the short term. July trading reflected this variability, with sales declining 0.5% at JB Hi-Fi Australia, 1.7% at The Good Guys and 2.7% at e&s, while JB Hi-Fi New Zealand continued its strong momentum with 20.9% sales growth. Customers are increasingly seeking value and shifting spending towards major promotional events, while technology sales remain affected by supplier price increases and stock availability. Against this backdrop, the Group plans to focus on competitive value offers, supplier relationships, stock availability and customer service to drive demand and gain market share.
