3 Best Dividend ETFs on the ASX for Passive Income in 2026
Dividend ETFs can play a valuable role in retirement portfolios through diversified exposure to dividend paying companies and the potential for regular passive income.
The following three ASX listed dividend ETFs stand out for their focused strategies along with relatively low management fees and access to established businesses which makes them worth considering for retirees who seek a reliable source of passive income.
1. The Vanguard Australian Shares High Yield ETF (ASX: VHY) is a solid pick among dividend ETFs as it will provide exposure to 90 ASX companies with relatively high forecast dividends and is designed to track the FTSE Australia High Dividend Yield Index before fees and expenses.
The fund pays distributions every quarter and charges an annual management fee of just 0.25% while its forecast equity dividend yield stood at 4.3% as of 30 September 2026 or 5.8% when grossed up for franking credits.
VHY recorded a total return of 12.30% over one year whereas its annualised total return since inception stood at 9.76%.
BHP Group, Commonwealth Bank, National Australia Bank and Westpac rank among the fund's largest holdings and its top 10 holdings account for 61.6% of the portfolio.
VHY may suit investors who seek passive income through a diversified investment with its focus on dividend income and established Australian companies.
2. Betashares S&P Global High Dividend Aristocrats ETF (ASX: INCM) is designed to invest in international companies across developed markets outside Australia which have maintained or increased their dividends for at least 10 consecutive years. The fund has an aim to provide regular passive income and long-term diversification as it pays distributions on a quarterly basis and has an annual management fee of 0.39%.
INCM had a trailing 12 month distribution yield of 5% as of 30 September 2026 while its total return over the previous year stood at 9.91%.
The portfolio has 179 companies which include Microsoft, Apple, Verizon, Broadcom and Exxon Mobil while the United States represents 75.5% of its total holdings.
It has a very good strategy because it favours companies with consistent dividend payments and screens out potentially unsustainable payouts.
3. Betashares S&P Australian Shares High Yield ETF (ASX: HYLD) will give access to 50 Australian companies with high forecast dividend yields and has an aim to generate frequent passive income and potential capital appreciation.
The ETF pays income each month and has an annual management fee of 0.25% while its screening process seeks to avoid potential dividend traps caused by unsustainably high yields and elevated volatility.
The fund recorded a one year total return of 11.20% as of 30 September 2026 with a trailing 12 month distribution yield of 4.3% which rises to 5.4% after franking credits are included.
BHP, ANZ, Westpac and National Australia Bank rank among its largest holdings while financials make up 42.4% of the portfolio followed by materials at 19.7% and energy at 13%.
HYLD is a perfect match for passive income focused investors who seek monthly cash flow from Australian stock market.
