Furniture retailer Nick Scali Limited (ASX: NCK) has issued a trading update on 21 October 2026, forecasting underlying Group net profit after tax (NPAT) between $28 million and $32 million for the first half of FY27.
The earnings outlook reflects contrasting regional performances. First quarter trading across Australia and New Zealand remained subdued with foot traffic slipping approximately 10% and written sales orders dropping 15% against the prior corresponding period.
The local division was also disrupted by an August cyber incident that disabled ERP systems for three weeks requiring manual processing and contributing to an expected 11% to 14% drop in 1H ANZ revenue.
Conversely, the UK business gained solid ground posting a 29% surge in total written sales orders and a 14% rise on a like for like basis.
Nick Scali noted that it continues to maintain a robust balance sheet while prioritizing gross margin defence, disciplined overhead management and operational gains in the UK. Group underlying guidance excludes roughly $980,000 in adviser and legal costs tied to the cyber disruption which will be recognized separately as non underlying items.
The company remains focused on strategic footprint expansion despite localized headcurrents, following two July ANZ openings with two additional ANZ locations and a new UK showroom set to launch in late December.
