China Thaw Deescalates Trade Tensions, Markets Cheer

Wall Street staged a rebound amid hints of easing US-China trade tensions. Markets also witnessed investors returning, buoyed by the reassurance from White House on Central Bank.
Trump signalling that negotiations with China could be cordial, and a deal could drive tariffs on imports from the country to fall significantly, although not to zero.
Boosted by the optimism, all three major U.S. indexes rallied by more than 2.5%, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average rising 1,016.57 points, or 2.66%, to 39,186.98, the S&P 500 surging 129.56 points or 2.51% to 5287.76 and the Nasdaq Composite up by 429.52 points or 2.71% to 16300.42.
Indicating a continuation on Wednesday, S&P 500 futures too jumped almost 2% following Trump’s comments.
It was made clear in no uncertain terms that Washington realises that the uncertainty around tariffs was impacting the markets and would make endeavours to get some type of positive news going forward on the trade front.
