The RBA cash rate sits at 4.60% after the September 2026 lift, with markets pricing a meaningful chance of another move. Higher rates typically support bank net interest margins while pressuring rate-sensitive sectors.

In this setting, income-focused investors have been looking at stocks offering sustainable, often fully franked yields that have held up relative to broader market weakness in materials and gold.

Here are three ASX names currently offering notable income characteristics, based on data around 23 October 2026 closes. All figures are in Australian dollars.

1. Westpac Banking Corporation (ASX: WBC)

  • Closing price: $36.79

  • Trailing fully franked dividend yield: Around 4.2–4.3%

  • Annual dividend run-rate: Near $1.54 per share

Westpac has maintained a steady ordinary dividend profile, with the most recent interim at 77 cents fully franked.

In a higher-rate environment, major banks generally benefit from wider net interest margins. The stock has shown relative resilience compared with the materials sector in recent sessions.

Payouts remain covered by earnings on published figures, and franking credits add value for eligible Australian taxpayers. Support levels and trading volume have been watched closely around the mid-$35 zone.

2. National Australia Bank (ASX: NAB)

  • Closing price: $41.31

  • Trailing fully franked dividend yield: Around 4.1–4.25%

  • Annual dividend: Near $1.70 per share

NAB’s latest interim dividend was 85 cents fully franked. The bank’s business-lending focus and deposit franchise have supported consistent cash returns.

Like its peers, NAB stands to gain from elevated rates through improved margins, provided credit quality remains stable. The share price has traded with less volatility than resource names during the recent market rotation.

Technical readings show the stock holding above shorter-term moving averages after recent gains, with the $40 area acting as a near-term reference point.

3. Atlas Arteria (ASX: ALX)

  • Closing price: Near $3.70

  • Trailing distribution yield: Approximately 10.8% (unfranked)

  • Annual distribution: 40 cents per security, paid as 20 cents twice yearly

Atlas Arteria owns interests in toll-road concessions, primarily in Europe. Its cash distributions have remained flat at 40 cents for an extended period.

The higher headline yield reflects the unfranked nature of the payments and the current share price near multi-month lows. Toll-road cash flows are generally linked to traffic volumes rather than short-term interest-rate swings, offering a different income profile from the banks.

Support has been tested near the $3.58–$3.60 zone, with the stock trading below key moving averages amid broader market pressure.

What Income Investors Should Consider

Banks currently offer fully franked yields in the low-to-mid 4% range, alongside the potential benefit of higher rates on margins. Atlas Arteria provides a higher cash distribution yield but without franking credits.

Dividend sustainability depends on earnings coverage, capital ratios for banks and free-cash-flow generation for infrastructure businesses. Yields can change with share-price movements and future board decisions. Higher interest rates can also increase funding costs and put pressure on valuations.
