Has Metaverse finally arrived?

Team Veye | 30-Jan-2022 Metaverse

Metaverse is an amalgamation of the words meta and universe. It is a concept of an online, 3D, virtual space connecting users in all aspects of their lives. The internet is so evolving that it is expected to see the rise of online 3-D or virtually integrated environments that provide users access to virtual reality and augmented reality experiences.

It can be described as future iteration of the internet. The metaverse will allow users to work, meet, game, and socialize together in these 3D spaces.

The concept was developed in the science-fiction novel Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson. However, while the idea of a metaverse was once fiction, in which he envisioned life like avatars who met in realistic 3D buildings and other virtual reality environments it now looks like it could be a reality in the future.

Although metaverse means different things to different people, it is also because the lines between the virtual world and reality have become obscure.

Metaverse has been cited as a reason for acquiring the game developer Activision Blizzard for $68.7 billion by Microsoft. Facebook’s founder, Mark Zuckerberg, has also renamed his social networking company Meta.

Is Metaverse just a hype? The answer to this lies in the fact that games, e-commerce, education and weddings are taking place in Metaverse and the virtual 3D space is touching and dominating every aspect of our lives.

With High tech CEOs getting interested, experts are of the opinion that it could be just the beginning and immersive digital experiences could be available to users in the future.

Metaverse is already here, captivating and connecting world for collaboration, education and much more. Metaverse will transform the way businesses operate and given its boundary-agnostic nature owing to its virtual presence, Metaverse enables endless possibilities. It has the potential to become a trillion-dollar opportunity across the world of advertising, digital events, e-commerce and hardware.
