From Acquisition to Growth: 3 ASX Companies Making Key Moves in August 2026
Three ASX listed companies: BetMakers, Rimfire Pacific Mining and AVITA Medical, announced their key updates, covering a proposed acquisition, funding and growth plans and improving financial performance.
BetMakers Technology Group Limited (ASX: BET)
has formed a binding agreement with Tabcorp Holdings Limited (ASX: TAH) on 10 August 2026. This contract entails Tabcorp acquiring all the shares of BetMakers using a scheme of arrangement, where the shareholders will get $0.24 cash for each share. Thus, this acquisition will give BetMakers an equity valuation of $282.9 million. The offer is 45.5% higher than BetMakers' closing price of $0.165 per share on 7 August 2026 and 41.1% above its 1 month VWAP.
The eligible shareholders can choose to receive 25%, 50%, 75% or 100% of their payment in new Tabcorp shares. Scrip consideration is limited to 25% of the total deal value with a proportional reduction if elections exceed that limit.
The BetMakers Board recommends the deal, and its directors intend to vote in favour, representing 10% of shares. The Scheme needs ACCC, gaming and racing approvals, shareholder and Court approval, plus conditions. Completion is targeted for Q3 FY27, and shareholders need not act.
Rimfire Pacific Mining Ltd (ASX: RIM)
on 7 August 2026, announced the appointment of an Executive Chair and commitments for a $2.30 million Placement at 0.8 cents per share. The move aims to renew its strategy of becoming an Australian pure-play scandium developer. Two existing directors will move to Non-Executive Director and Technical Director roles. Directors and management will invest $580,000. Funds will cover scandium work, metallurgical studies, drilling and working capital.
Scandium demand is increasing across advanced manufacturing, AI data centres, defence and aerospace. Rimfire plans to progress low-iron processing, accelerate drilling, expand resources and complete technical studies for future development and strategic options.
On 31 July 2026, RIM reported encouraging bottle roll tests at the low-iron Murga Scandium Deposit with an Inferred MRE of 11,900t Sc Oxide. Two longer 160β180 day tests started. A seismic survey was completed, with results expected by August-end. Xcelsior Capital Advisors was appointed for funding, government relations, OEMs, financial institutions, offtake support and market research. September quarter work will focus on metallurgical testing and air-core drilling at Malamute, Murga and new targets.
AVITA Medical, Inc. (ASX: AVH)
in its Second Quarter 2026 Briefing on 10 August 2026, noted that the companyβs focused strategy was providing tangible results through revenue growth and improving financial performance. AVH has projected its net revenue for 2026 at $86 million to $89 million and breakeven cash flow in Q4 2026. Liquidity is expected to support operations until breakeven, while the $10 million Tranche B becomes available after reaching at least $85 million in trailing 12-month net revenue.
The new 2027 SCSA CPT code family will combine harvesting, preparation and application into one code family and standardize reporting in 100 sq cm units. It removes manual versus automated preparation differences, restores pediatric reporting using body surface area and supports a national physician valuation framework.
AVITA reported a 13% QoQ revenue increase with growth across its portfolio, sustained high gross margins and controlled operating expenses and cash use. PermeaDerm results are due in August, while Cohealyx I six-month data is expected by year end.
