Fastest-Growing Shares ASX: What 2026 Really Showed
The fastest-growing shares ASX investors watched in FY26 left the market behind. One health stock rose about 1,787%. The ASX 200 managed only about 2.7%.
But some of those gains have since shrunk fast. Here’s what drove the best performing ASX shares 2026 so far, and what the numbers don’t tell you.
What Makes a Share “Fastest-Growing”?
Most lists rank shares by ASX share price growth over 12 months. That’s simple, and it’s also limited. A price can jump because profits are climbing, or because investors expect profits that haven’t arrived yet.
Earnings growth reflects what a company actually made. Price growth reflects what people are willing to pay, and that can change overnight.
So when you see a ranking of top ASX growth stocks, treat it as a record of what happened. It isn’t a forecast of what happens next.
The Fastest-Growing Shares ASX Investors Tracked in FY26
Four names stood out among ASX shares in FY26, which ran to 30 June 2026.
4DMedical (4DX) led the pack. The health care company rose about 1,787% to $4.53. FY26 revenue reached $7.1 million, up 21%, while scans jumped 77%.
Minerals 260 (MI6) climbed about 508% to $0.73. Its Bullabulling project holds a 6.2-million-ounce gold resource, but the company is pre-production with no revenue.
Elevra Lithium (ELV) gained about 327% to $9.60 as lithium prices surged.
Megaport (MP1) led the calendar-2026 list at mid-year, up about 82% at that point. Its FY26 revenue hit $312.2 million, up 37.5%.
*Year to mid-2026, not FY26.
Why Fast Growth Doesn’t Mean Stable
Think of high-growth ASX stocks as a rocket that’s climbed fast but hasn’t reached orbit. Height shows where it’s been, not whether it’ll hold.
Look at prices since June. 4DMedical traded around $3.97 on 19 October, well below its $7.55 April high.
Elevra Lithium sat near $4.00 on 16 October after a 20% drop that week. It had already lost about 63% over five months. Megaport slid from about $22.34 on 2 October to $16.50 two weeks later.
Two risks sit behind those moves. Commodity prices swing, and 14 of FY26’s top 20 ASX 200 performers were miners.
Valuations can also run ahead of earnings. Megaport posted a $39.0 million FY26 loss. 4DMedical’s adjusted net loss was $32.9 million.
What to Check Before Researching Any Growth Share
Before researching any of the fastest-growing shares ASX rankings throw up, check these:
• Financials: Is revenue growing, and is the company still making losses?
• Funding: How much cash does it hold, and is it raising capital?
• Valuation: What are you paying relative to sales or earnings?
• Announcements: What has the company told the ASX lately?
• Diversification: How much of your portfolio sits in one sector?
