Carnegie Clean Energy Limited is working on wave energy projects like CETO and MoorPower. The updates show progress in testing, funding support and international partnerships for offshore renewable energy development.
Carnegie Clean Energy Ltd (ASX: CCE)
on 15 May 2026, reported that its CETO Wave Energy Ireland unit received a EuropeWave milestone payment of β¬63,688 (around 103k AUD) under the ACHIEVE Programme Phase 3 contract. The payment was released after two deliverables were approved. One was the permission to deploy the CETO device at the BiMEP offshore test site from Spanish energy and coastal authorities. The second was completion of control software needed for upcoming power take-off testing. The BiMEP site already has general authorisation, but each prototype still needs notification to energy and coastal authorities before installation. This step confirms progress toward deploying CETO technology in Europe at the Biscay Marine Energy Platform.
US TEAMER Technical Support Selection
On 7 May 2026, the company announced selection for technical support worth $194k USD (about 270k AUD) under the US TEAMER programme. The project is called βDevelopment of a Finfish Array with Distributed WEC Power Integrationβ and is being developed with Kelson Marine in the United States. The work focuses on combining MoorPower wave energy technology with offshore fish pens to reduce diesel use in aquaculture. A numerical model will be developed to study how fish pen arrays behave and how energy systems can be integrated more effectively. The project is currently in the test plan stage and will begin after final approval from the TEAMER technical board expected later in the year.
Operational Progress and Funding
For the quarter ended 31 March 2026, the company achieved stable progress on the ACHIEVE Programme including completion of fabrication for major components and continued subsystem testing ahead of offshore deployment later in the year. A $568,630 R&D Tax Incentive refund for the 2025 financial year was received and providing funding support for ongoing development work. The MoorPower preliminary design project supported by Blue Economy CRC was completed, with plans moving toward a commercial pilot stage alongside aquaculture stakeholders. The quarter also included discussions with defence-related organisations to explore possible uses of wave energy systems in marine operations.
Quarter ActivitiesΒ
During the same quarter, international engagement continued alongside technical work. The company hosted the High Commissioner for Mauritius and met industry participants in the Basque Region. These meetings focused on interest in wave energy systems for offshore and blue economy applications. The discussions helped build awareness of possible use cases for continuous renewable energy at sea.
Alongside this, project teams remained focused on supply chain coordination, testing activities, and preparation for offshore deployment work. Documentation and quality processes were also maintained as part of readiness for upcoming programme milestones. These combined efforts supported ongoing development of both CETO and MoorPower technologies across different markets and applications.
